This week marks the end of Grace Tame’s time as Australian of the year. She has used her tenure to provide a clarion call for a national reckoning about the treatment of women. Along with other victim-survivors and advocates she has challenged us to do better.

After missing every deadline, the Morrison-Joyce Government gave experts just two weeks to review the draft National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032.

GOVERNMENT RUSHES CONSULTATION ON DRAFT NATIONAL PLAN TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN

The government is not off to a great start. It is unfortunate that victim-survivors, frontline workers and advocates have been given just two weeks in January to comment on the draft plan. This plan was due months ago. The community should not have to pay for this Prime Minister’s failure to deliver.
