SENATOR JENNY MCALLISTER
SHADOW ASSISTANT MINISTER FOR FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES
SENATOR FOR NEW SOUTH WALES

PATRICK DEEGAN
LABOR CANDIDATE FOR PAGE

RECOGNISING THE STRENGTH OF NORTH COAST SERVICES

Senator Jenny McAllister and Patrick Deegan today visited Jumbunna Pre-School and Early Intervention Centre and Baptist Church Community Preschool in Casino, New South Wales as part of National Child Protection week (2-8 September 2018).

Labor recognises the importance of institutions like these in helping to raise happy and healthy children on the NSW North Coast.

Jenny and Patrick heard from the Jumbunna staff about their work supporting children with disabilities and their families.

Patrick Deegan said: “The Coalition Government seems to spend all their time working out ways to give tax cuts to big business and fighting with each other. In Labor we’re focused on the real issues facing regional families like early childhood education and support for children with disabilities. It’s a pretty big contrast.”

“Labor acknowledges the hard work and commitment of early childhood educators and the invaluable role they play in raising the next generation of Australians.“

Senator McAllister said: “If children have special needs we know how important it is to get help to those kids and their families early, it’s the best way of making sure they’ll thrive. It’s a real privilege to talk today to with these kids and their staff, to hear first hand the importance of these services.”

“It’s also terrific to be here with Patrick. As a social welfare professional of 20 years Patrick knows first-hand the struggles local families face and the crucial support such services provide. With a Coalition Government focused only on itself we need a real voice in parliament to stand up for the people of Page.”
