With Sharon Claydon at NOVA for women and girls

12.58pm | February 21, 2022

Frontline workers from NOVA for Women and Girls in Newcastle told me they feel completely “abandoned” by the Liberal State and Federal governments. They have been left on their own to support women and children fleeing violence during the omicron outbreak. NOVA and other services in the region were left without a supply of RATS for months & receive little support to find crisis accomodation for covid positive women seeking refuge. We need to do better than this. A Labor government will not abandon this sector and the women and children they support. We will invest in social housing, emergency accomodation and create 500 new community sector jobs.

Thank you Sharon Claydon MP for inviting me to meet with services in your electorate. You are a fierce advocate for women and children in Newcastle and around the country.
