I want to talk this evening to some of the people who this government has forgotten; people who live up and down the east coast of New South Wales in places like Lismore, Casino, Batemans Bay and Nowra.

I rise today because I believe that we all have the right to die with dignity. There are no easy decisions at the end of life, and they are decisions that no-one makes lightly.

Labor will lead a comprehensive Senate inquiry into Malcolm Turnbull’s My Health Record fiasco amid ongoing privacy and security concerns. We remain deeply concerned that the Government’s bungled rollout of the My Health Record opt-out period has severely undermined public trust in this important reform.

The position of Merit Protection Commissioner for the Australian Public Service is not one that receives much public attention.  Despite its low profile, it plays a crucial role in ensuring integrity across the APS. It is deeply concerning that the Turnbull Government allowed the position to remain vacant for over six months.

Today I met with Grandmothers against Detention of Refugee Children. The Coalition Government has shown no interest in finding resettlement options for children in detention.

Labor will never privatise the ABC. 

The Coalition’s budget is fundamentally unfair and will make working and middle class Australians pay for tax cuts to the big end of town.

It was a fantastic night at the Future of Work forum, discussing the many challenges facing Australian workers.

Today early childhood educators all across the country walked off the job to demand equal pay.
